About Us
Owning
a pet is a wonderful experience that brings with it love,
companionship and security. In return, your pet relies on
you to provide for its physical and mental well being.
Like
us, our pets sometimes suffer from poor health and not even
a devoted family's love and concern can prevent every single
accident or illness. It is at these times that expert veterinary
care is essential. At Chastain Veterinary Medical Group we
are committed to providing just that, and a whole lot more.
We
cannot promise to love your pet as much as you do however;
we can promise that every creature, large or small, will get
the finest medical care and emotional support that we can
provide.
Our
Credo
- We
will address every preventable health problem.
- We
will suggest a treatment for every existing health problem.
- We
will consult with the pet's family, to insure that all treatments
administered reflect their love, insights, and preferences.
AND
- We
will maintain our ability to deliver the finest care available
anywhere through the relentless pursuit of knowledge and
wisdom, and access to the latest in medical technology.
At Chastain Veterinary Medical Group we want you to rest easy
knowing that the health and well-being of your pets are in
very good hands. We will do all we can to make sure you need
our services as seldom as possible by helping you keep your
pets as healthy as possible.
Chastain
Veterinary Medical Group has been certified by the American
Animal Hospital Association longer than any other existing
veterinary facility in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Since 1963,
in fact! Our length of service to the Metroplex is something
we are very proud of, however, our primary concern is pet
health care right now and well into the future.
Our
commitment to you and yours
You
will see our commitment to quality pet care for yourself on
each visit. We'll check your pet out from nose to tail. We'll
test everything from temperature to body weight, heart to
hips and walking to breathing to help identity those little
things that can sometimes turn into big or serious things
later on. Prevention is one of our first priorities.
How
far should we go for your pet?
We
see it as our duty to provide you and your pet with the finest
veterinary health care available. Our entire staff, from the
Receptionists to the Veterinary Nurses and from the Office
Manager to the Pet Bathers, are all trained and re-trained
continuously to the highest standards of veterinary medical
care. We do this so that everyone who works here will be familiar
with the all the treatments and technologies we have available
to respond to your pets needs and to detect potential health
problems.
On
the technology front, we're proud of our state of the art
in-house blood chemistry equipment, surgical laser, color
Doppler ultrasound equipment, and our fiber optic ear imaging
suite. We employ a board-certified veterinary Radiologist,
Dr. Brian Poteet, DVM, from Gulf
Coast Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, to help
us get the most out of our X-rays. We've also developed close
working relationships with the area's best veterinary dermatologists,
internists, neurologists, opthalmologists, oncologist, and
surgeons at the Veterinary
Referral Center of North Texas to ensure that
your pet always has access to optimum care.
Are
we there when you need us?
Very
definitely! Serious pet health problems can occur when we
least expect them and that's when you need us the most. Our
emergency assistance service is available around the clock
to help make your pet feel better. Since we are partners in
the Animal Emergency Clinic of Dallas, you can be sure that
continuity of care will be maintained whether your pet is
seen there or here for emergency care. We also have extended
weekday evening hours and even regular Saturday and Sunday
hours and, hey! we make it as easy as possible to visit with
your pet because nothing heals hurt quicker than a hug from
a loved one.
Can't
get away?
Now
you can! We understand that for many it is practically impossible
to leave pets in the care of a stranger - nothing strange
about that!
We
make that a little bit easier by offering quality pet boarding
accommodation, including personalized pet play times, snacks,
and comfort cushions for our overnight guests. You can even
bring in their favorite toys or your own pet treats to make
being away from you more comfortable. And when they check
out, they'll be as clean, sweet-smelling and flea-free as
we can get 'em, with their own free pet boarding report card
telling you all about their vacation!
How
much?
Yes!
Good pet health care does have a cost. We all understand that
and we, like you, know the constraints of the family budget.
Please just ask us, at any stage, and we will be happy to
go through with you, in detail, any fees that your pet may
reasonably be expected to incur along the way. We will also
discuss any medical procedures with you before they are performed.
And we won't do anything until you OK it. Written estimates
are always available before any procedure is performed.
When
it comes to health care, we all know that prevention is not
only less stressful, but also often less expensive in the
long run, as compared to crisis medicine or emergency interventions.
What you may not know is that that holds true for animals,
as well as people. That's one of the reasons why we developed
our Life-Cycle Wellness Protocols for pet health care. Following
these Protocols not only helps ensure that your pet will have
access to quality health care, it also helps lessen the financial
shock that can sometimes be associated with advancing pet
age or illness and injury.
We
can also provide you with information and administrative assistance
on pet health insurance, if you'd like.
Remember!
Your pet, whatever its species, needs you to love it
and Preston Road Animal Hospital to help care for it.
AND
WE WILL!
